The North Yorkshire Moors Railway
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway operates steam trains along an 18 mile line between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, through the heart of the North York Moors National Park. You can also enjoy getting as far as Whitby on the train at certain times

Located at Hutton-le-Hole, the Ryedale Folk Museum has some excellent exhibits and shows you how people used to live in Ryedale.

Byland Abbey

The World of James Herriot Museum
Visit the original home and surgery of the world’s most famous vet, at the nearby town of Thirsk-with its cobbled market place and beautiful church.

Dalby Forest
Dalby Forest is situated near Pickering and is owned by the Forestry Commission. Come and visit their award winning cycle trails which plays host to cycling events in the 2010 Olympic games., Go-Ape, Courtyard Shops, and the many acres of woodland. June is the month when the Forest plays hosts to famous voices of the music world.- Simply Red, Take That and many more.

Whitby
Whitby’s skyline is dominated by the ruins of St. Hilda’s Abbey, high on Whitby’s East Cliff. Spreading below Whitby, a maze of alleyways and narrow streets run down to the busy quayside. From the old town of Whitby, 199 steps lead up to the parish church of St. Mary, whose churchyard on Whitby’s East Cliff gave Bram Stoker the inspiration to write his world famous book, Dracula. Not forgetting to head to the Magpie for one of their famous fish dishes
