Walk in the woods, go searching for mushrooms. Why not take one of our dogs with you for company? See the amazing views round every corner and all that surrounds us – Castle Howard -one of the Britain’s finest historic houses and gardens. There are many abbeys and historical sites around. There really is something for everybody, whether you like shopping, fine-dining or simply exploring the countryside. Or even take a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Whether you are looking for fine dining, traditional pub food, or scrumptious afternoon teas, we’ve got you covered. Only 5min away is the Michelin starred restaurant The Black Swan at Oldstead. 7 miles away is the famous Star at Harome. The Hare at Scawton is another favourite. James Herriot once describe the view from the top of Sutton Bank (pictured) as “the finest view in England”. Located just a 10 min drive from Carr House Farm. The viewing platform is a short stroll from the visitors centre, along a wheelchair-accessible path. Or why not go south along the dramatic escarpment to the famous Kilburn White Horse.
We are so lucky to have such talented artists across North Yorkshire . These are some of my favourites. You are able to visit their workshops and buy their creations. Handblown glass from Gillies Jones in Rosedale , handmade walking sticks from The Stick Man in Helmsley and of course the famous Mouseman of Kilburn who is only 4 miles from here.
Carr House Farm is the idyllic home of Anna & Jack (an officially designated friendly face of North Yorkshire). Anna & Jack have lived and worked in the area for their whole lives and will be happy to share their unique knowledge. If you want to know the best places to eat & drink, the must see attractions or the hidden gems; these are the people to ask!
